At this exceptional INSET conference, the inspirational Pie Corbett will explore

  • how educators can develop pupils’ story-telling, writing and poetry skills through animal observation
  • strategies for using animals as a stimulus for a full range of writing
  • how to develop teacher-pupil interaction and creative curriculum activities with the aim of improving critical thinking, writing and storytelling skills in pupils

12.15-12.30 - Talk by Rachel Haydon Senior Learning Manager, learning about ZSL London Zoo's work with Schools.

14.00-14.15 - Talk by Louise Johns-Shepherd CEO CLPE
      Power Of Reading Project: promoting enjoyment and achievement. This successful national project raises achievement by engaging teachers and children in the literacy curriculum through using high quality books and creative teaching approaches
14.15-15.15 - Pie Corbett - Session 3 Non-fiction: Focusing on information reports, discussion and persuasion.
15.15-15.45 - Performance by Poet John Agard, playwright, poet and children's writer. Winner of the 1997 Paul Hamlyn Award for Poetry, the Cholmondeley Award in 2004, and the Queen's Gold Medal for Poetry in 2012
