Malorie Blackman named new Children's Laureate

Wednesday, 05 June 2013

Malorie Blackman, author of the highly acclaimed "Noughts and Crosses", has been named the latest Waterstone's Children's Laureate.

The 8th writer to fill the position, we think Malorie is a brilliant choice.

All here at Jubileebooks.co.uk Ltd are very pleased that Malorie has been recognised in this way and we are sure that she will make an amazing contribution to the promotion of children's literature in schools and the wider community.

Having worked with her over the years we know how great Malorie's passion for promoting reading and writing in schools is. The many inspirational events and work she has done in the past stand testimony to that fact. Malorie's fast paced novels have been a joy to many young people, boys in particular.

Her warmth, natural demeanour, focus and down to earth attitude have no doubt helped her to succeed. Malorie, despite countless rejections, doggedly pursued her passion for writing and dream to be a published author. She is a hard-working and inspirational role model and is a wonderful choice for Children's Laureate.

"Malorie is a real champion for equality in access to children's literature for all. "
Eddie Burnett, Director of Jubileebooks.co.uk Ltd
